Agmon Hefer

In the heart of the fields of the Hefer Valley lies Agmon Hefer — a bird sanctuary and a haven for nature lovers. Where the lake sits today there were once the fish ponds of Kibbutz Ein HaHoresh. Its creation restored to the area the flora and fauna of wet habitats. Characteristic plant species were planted here, alongside rare wildflowers of the Hefer Valley. Water birds, birds of prey and songbirds, as well as other animals, visit the lake during the migration seasons. Around Agmon Hefer run wooden trails that seem taken from a world of fairy tales, leading us to enchanted corners around the lake. Many "hides" were planted among the paths so we can watch the birds without disturbing or frightening them. Today it is a beautiful park, a paradise for the winged and for those who travel on two feet.
