Our tour begins with a climb to the Ma'apilim Lookout, overlooking the sea from the kurkar ridge and commemorating the fascinating story of the immigrant ships, foremost among them the "Altalena." From here we walk north along the beach and discover that Beit Yanai Beach holds within it a rich and vibrant world of nature. Here we can meet the "ghost crabs" scurrying nimbly across the golden sand, and be moved to learn that this beach serves as a home for the brown and green sea turtles that come here to lay their eggs each summer. Nearby operates the Sea Turtle Rescue Center, which devotedly cares for injured turtles and returns them to nature.
